When asked how he chooses the men he photographs, Mark Henderson says that, amongst other criteria, “the models I hire must achieve an extremely high level of muscular conditioning – a pleasing balance between size, proportion, flexibility and definition is ideal for my purposes”.
What Henderson fails to mention is that the guys he photographs – or at least the ones in American Eros, his fifth beautiful coffee table book – are all hung like donkeys, possess arses that define the term ‘bubble butt’ and have sex appeal in bucket loads! Not that we’re complaining mind you.
In this stunning 288-page photo book you’ll find intimate and very private images of 18-year-old models through to men over the age of 50, including the likes of Marc Dylan, Race Cooper, Landon Conrad and Trenton Ducati. Men who are not only native to the United States, Canada and Mexico, but also guys from China, Persia, Russia, Serbia, Western Africa, the Philippines and Brazil.
So, as Henderson puts it, this book was never intended to be a demographically accurate anthropological survey of the average American male. “Quite the contrary! American Eros serves as my way of celebrating the delicious multiformity of male beauty found here.”
All we can say is, American Eros is a celebration worth celebrating!
