His first book, Dawn of the Gods, was the unexpected success of 2013 and since then Louis LaSalle has gained a large audience through the intensity and the genuine straightforwardness of his photography. His works are inspired by classical nudes, which he transforms through a passionate reinterpretation that goes beyond the boundaries of nude photography.
LaSalle knew that he would have to pull out all the stops with his follow-up publication and Twilight Of The Shadows is a book focussed on his black and white work. When asked why he choose to express himself in black and white, LaSalle says, “Perhaps because it immediately takes the photo outside the day-to-day reality of colour and three dimensions… Pause in stillness, take a moment to see the world anew, and enjoy Twilight Of The Shadows.”
Well, we paused, we took a moment to see the world anew and yes, we enjoyed it!
