You’ll find The Underground Club in the basement of Central Station in London’s Kings Cross. Together with its infamous underwear party Pants (on 5 times a week) it’s home to a variety of special-interest parties catering to almost every conceivable kink, from Master & Slave to trannies and foot fetishists to adult babies!
Hi Phil. How would you describe The Underground Club to someone who’s never been before?
It’s a dark and cruisy space, totally attitude free, discreetly placed in the basement of the building. The set up depends on each club – some will set up a cruise maze whilst others have fetish equipment set up – but it always creates a raunchy environment for the fetish it’s catering for.
And how long have you been the Manager?
Having been part of the management team since 2007, my mind has been broadened to accept that what one person thinks of as weird is another’s fetish. I’m proud to be part of a venue where people travel from other parts of the UK to come and explore their fetish in a safe, attitude free environment. I regularly see plenty of horny scenes taking place right in front of my eyes – having 80 up-for-it City Boys in one room always creates plenty of hardcore sex scenes!
How many different parties/clubs are there?
We’ve got a club for almost anyone – there are currently 18 different clubs that take place, the majority on a regular basis.
Does The Underground Club manage and run all of the parties and club events, or is each one run independently?
The clubs are all run by promoters – this is great because they have a real interest in the fetish they’re running, meaning they know how to cater for that market. The only exception is Hard Cruz which we run ourselves – this is the only free entry club and is very popular.
Of all the weekly and monthly parties and clubs, which would you say is the busiest?
In terms of number of people through the door, SOP on a Sunday, Sweet Wednesday, Collared events and Come To Daddy on Thursdays is increasingly busy.
What kind of guys go to The Underground Club?
A whole mix of guys – mostly aged 20s to 60s – of all shapes and sizes. Collared is more popular with the younger of the age range whilst a club such as XXX attracts the whole range. What they have in common is that they are all out for a good time and not up their own arses.
What’s the weirdest idea for a new fetish night that you’ve been asked to put on?
We were approached a few years ago to put on a club that caters for clown and circus fetishes – but there was not enough interest so it never went ahead.
In all your years working at the club you must’ve witnessed some things that’d make our toes curl… What’s the most shocking?
Nothing actually shocks me anymore – I’m used to it all. Something I was shocked to see was when we used to have a mixed gender fetish club here – I witnessed pins being stuck into a woman’s breasts – an image that has stuck with me since!
So, what has The Underground Club got planned this year?
We’re always looking to improve and introduce new clubs like Paunchy Late that started in December and was a huge success – it’s now every 4th Friday of the month. We always welcome ideas from new and existing club promoters for club proposals
